Let's hear it for the girls ! ... Morgan's 2009 doe !

Post by R.J. »

Another Excalibur fan from work relayed this storty to me today ... his 14 year old daughter Morgan hunts with him , and she has already added turkey and deer to her list of accomplishments !

Here is her 1st doe of 2009 ...
Just thought I'd send a couple of pictures of the doe that Morgan harvested Saturday morning.

We had a doe and a fawn come into the apple cooker at first light. They stayed around for awhile but Morgan couldn't get the bow up as they were only 20 yds out and facing us.

About 20 minutes after they moved on Morgan lets me know that three more deer are heading our way.

When the deer were out about 60yds, Morgan got the bow up and was hoping for a shot. The two buck fawns came in and investigated the apple cooker while the doe stayed back.

She slowly moved in and Morgan needed the doe to clear some branches to her right to have a 30yd shot.

Once she was in the clear Morgan took the shot and the bolt hit its mark taking out both lungs. The doe ran up the field and we watched her go down at about 60yds.

We waited for about a half an hour and watched the two young bucks look at the apple cooker and play around with each other. The one was very big and we first thought it was another doe. After a closer look at about 10yds we could tell that they were both buck fawns.

It sometimes feels like alot of work hauling in a extra stand and hanging it beside our stationary one, but I always have the best seat in the house. Seeing Morgans reaction after the shot sure makes it worth it.
Way to go Doug M. ! and Congrat's Morgan !! ... A seasoned hunter at the age of 14 ! .... The smile on her face is priceless !

A perfect shot and a nice sized doe !
