Post by swiftfox »

Went out tonight to one of the last bean field's still standing in my area. Was out this morning also. Had two does pass bye me but both were way to far for a shot.

Sat in the edge of the been bean field with my back to the trees. At 5:40 I had convinced my self that I had picked the wrong spot. 6:25 I had a group of deer start to move towards the field. Short story one slick trick.one old Lady and an almost old vixen connected. Again this year I love cell phones. One fast call any my neighbour help pull out a small doe.

Good for you!

You mention having sat with your back to the trees, do you also have some cover in front of you or is it just the camo you're wearing that "hides" you?

Thanks...

bkisel the bean field curves around the woods in a half circle. There are a lot of tall weeds(goldenrod and small bushes on the edge of the woods. I have a small fold down chair I got from bass pro which I use to sit on.Also I do wear camo. Where I was last night I could watch the deer come out of the wood's on the left half of the circle. I am pretty sure that either today or tomorrow they will combine the beans.

sumner4991 It was about a 30-32 yard quartering away shot. Doe did not run, dropped in her tracks. The slick trick caught the upper right shoulder and ran through to the neck severing the carotid artery , jugular vein and part of the spine. The lumenock was a beacon as to where she dropped. My neighbour great guy that he is even though he dosen't hunt could not believe the amount of damage the slick trick had done. Sorry no pics. It was a toss up between using a slick trick and my good ole faithful hammer heads as I had a bad experience with slick tricks last year.
