Freaknasty back(oct 23rd) Cuddeback pic

Post by crazyfarmer »

Well, guess what... Good Ol Mike P was correct. I hadnt seen this buck since he lost his velvet back in early Sept. But he stopped by a few times to pose and one was Oct 23rd at 3am. I have one pic of him a few days ago at 8pm so he's getting close to daylight movement now! He's not a hude buck, but he has a split G2 and a bladed G2 on that same side. He's got excellent mass for here and he's in the top 2 on my hitlist. Im saving this whole area for ML'er season next saturday so he will face 12 days of keep away from the Pro Hunter T/C. I have pics of him from last year and he was a heavy 18inch side 6pt. From a few frontal shots he's over 20inches this year. Im guessing 4.5 years old

The games begin for him Oct 31st 8)

here is another small 6pt making a scrape in the same spot. Good width and a 3.5year old shooter but not many pts

now if the weather will just kick in here. It rained from 5-6pm today which was just enough to mess up the best part of the hunt. Temps were 81

Nice bucks! Either would be good ones to take.

The big six point does not appear to have the best antler developing genetics and may be a good one to take out of the gene pool.

Good luck.

I didn't realize that buck had that much mass, Crazy. Good luck.

thanks man.. he's no Ohio buck. I just hope I can get a crack at him before general firearms open. I know his area but the rut may make him travel some.

Dave, that area has some big 6's bigger than him. I have a thing for nice 6's that have good mass. He hasnt gotten their yet but we will always be a 6 im sure. However, the first buck was a 6pt last year. He grew some G3's this year so anything is possible. For the body size on the 6pt though, he doesnt have much headgear. 150-160lb is a good size buck here. I think the first one might go 170-180

thanks man! He might have more mass than anything I have mounted. Not the biggest buck though. I hope to get my hands on him to see up close. I have an idea he's bedding in the barn lot thats close to that camera. Its so thick there you cant even get into it. Luck and fate will determine the rest.

Old freaknasty looks like one to harvest!

I think you are correct when you say your bucks are a tad behind ours regarding movement.

They are going nuts here, we (Swede & I) saw six bucks last night and she had two within thirty yards, one two year old six and a three year old eight.

I hope you have a lot of time to dedicate to the bucks in the next week CF.

I found a huge 10ft around scrape today and a 10inch diameter cedar tree ripped to peices today in the woods so I think its getting about time. Needless to say, I moved a stand closer to that scrape which was about 50 yards behind me in a thicket. Im going to hunt that peice and save freaknasty for ML season or later next week if the weather does right.

but dont worry, he will get plenty time devoted to him and who knows what else might wonder by bigger or just like him :D The rut is a unpredictable thing 8)
