whats a big buck

Post by gogo »

Seen a few decent 6 pointers so a big buck to me would be a big bodied 8 pointer or above. What do you consider a big buck?

All the rest need to take cover or they might meet Mr. Exomax when he's on auto pilot.

Sure they're hard to find, but if you do, they are easy to carry.

The question is way too subjective.

Big bucks are all different sizes, it depends on geography. For example, a big buck down in Florida where saxman hunts is not the same as a big buck where I hunt here in Ohio.

Here is a picture of a big buck by Florida standards. Doc killed this one while we were down in Florida hunting hogs.

In the corn belt states that deer is considered a munchkin just like it would be up in Canada.

Big bucks come in all sizes.

Amen and amen.

Opportunities to kill big bucks are not created equal.

The biggest buck in East Carolina wouldn't be anything special at all back home in Indiana.

I think if it's big for the area it's killed in, then it's a BIG BUCK.

Here's a "big buck" for my area, which I killed four years ago:

Here's a big Indiana buck, killed this year:

And another Hoosier monster, killed in the county of my birth:

Big is big. It depends on where you're talking about.

It's not apples and apples. We can't grow big bucks here ... not compared to the Midwest ... our soil is too mineral poor.

IT'S ALL RELATIVE.

I'll agree it's relative to your location.
One thing I have noticed is that a lot of those southern deer like Grizz killed have beautifully proportioned racks. Miniature antlers compared to midwest bucks, but very often the right & left sides look like mirror images.

Was just asking a personal opinion. For myself a big bodied 8 pointer would be a great buck. Someone may think a 4 pointer is a big buck someone else may think a 10 pointer is a big buck. What size buck would make your hunting season great.
