There Was SOMETHING BIG ...

Post by Grizzly Adam »

... under my stand tonight.

Just before full dark.

Don't know what it was.

Couldn't see it.

But I could hear it.

I sat in a box blind tucked up tight against some of our incredibly thick brush, looking down a farm path through a woodlot on my farm. The stand floor is only three feet above ground; the side rails about six-and-a-half. It looks like an outhouse on stilts ... a "shooting box" ... like the ones you see in Texas. You can't see beneath you, or for about ten feet around you, because of the floor and sides. It has many claw and tooth marks on it, and chunks bitten from it.

I heard it sneak up.

It brushed the side of the stand.

It stood there for a while.

It walked around the stand.

It sneaked away.

Quiet and careful ... oh, so easy.

But I heard it.

It was BIG.

Ah ... adrenalin.

No way, Pyd ... 'cause it wasn't spooked, and it might be back, as I will. 8)

Might have been somebody's Christmas present, you should keep a rope in the stand so you could lasso it.
