Great night rut is here

Post by mdcrossbow »

I let one of the biggest bucks I have seen in a long time walk tonight. At 4 PM I climbed up on stand sat down pulled out the antlers and with 30 seconds there he was , where the heck did he come from at 20 yards I was WOW ! He walked ove to sniff the estrus pee and then turned and walked away. Why did I let him go? I am still asking myself that. He was at least 19" spread 4 point with a crab claw on the left. I got the binocs out and saw his browl tines were broken off and another point on the right which would have made him a nice 8. But to answere the question. How the heck do I know. Guess the 1st day of the rut movement and I was thinking or waiting for the big boy. Anyways he'll be Back as Arnold says. LOL

The intrinsic feeling one gets letting a nice buck walk is one seldom experienced by most hunters.

It is so very rewarding knowing that you could have killed the animal but chose not to. It is hard to explain how it feels.

But once you feel it, you want to feel it again and again!

I agree. Saw Bucks chasing just as it was getting dark last night.

And you usually spend the rest of the day second guessing yourself and hoping he makes it by the next hunter
