Not very often the Star has anything good to say about firearms, even less frequent that it would actualy report it.
This looks promising, thanks for the link.

"I'm concerned about the vote," Ontario Attorney General Chris Bentley said in an interview.

"People shouldn't play politics with public safety. The gun registry saves lives; it protects police officers," Bentley said.
In 2006, an RCMP deputy commissioner told a parliamentary committee that about 20 per cent of the annual registration work is devoted to long guns, and that the annual cost saving could be $2.9 million a year, or less.
I would really like to see some sort of evidence to back up these statements.

Unfortunately, this is just the first step in many. The registry is not scrapped right now...the process has just begun.

My brother-in-law works on The Hill and had this to say after the vote:

"The liberal foot dragging wont be as harmful as the lengthy and low priority procedural mess that a private member's bill has to go through...unless we hold off on an election for about another 12-18 months, the bill will die on the order paper."

We have to keep fighting...because the fight is far from over.

How many Liberal Senators are there compared to Conservative Senators?

Could get squashed in the senate.
