Last Day Tomorrow

Post by Golden Eagle »

Well Tomorrow is the last Day for Archery here in Pa.
I can say it has been a tough year for me. My Deer herd is way down due to Govt. Shooters policeing neighboring County property. And my Dad took sick for a few Weeks there and I couldnt get out much during that time period. He is much better now though.

Looks like I'll have to be out there in Rifle Season.

Well Im gonna try again this evening and tomorrow.
Who knows, he could appear anytime.

Gonna get ready now and go get in the tree.
Take Care.

I'm going to try and get a buck again this year during gun season with my Exomax. 8)

We have had a slow season here in south central Pa. also. Only saw one legal buck(6 pointer) while hunting and he was at 45 yards. Keeping my fingers crossed for tomarrow, or I will be braving the cold in rifle season too!

Well at least you will get a chance with your rifle. The only problem with getting him in archery season is the guns set idle for another season.

Yea it has been a slow season for myself also here in SW PA , first time I've been skunked in awhile. I have plenty shots on camera but none with my Exocet.... Just unable to see any while I'm out; wonder if the warmer weather this year has more moving @ night???? But I guess I will be ready for rifle season though in 2 weeks. Hope the luck changes!!!

I also hunt in western pa and like many others it has been a rough season. I had great success harvesting 3 mature does this season; however, I had only 1 legal buck in x-bow range all season. This buck was seen on the best day of the season nov 7 but never gave me a clear shot. I saw more deer on this day than all other days combined. I harvested these 3 deer in Sept. and Nov. I think the lousy weekend weather in October had alot to with the slow season. I no plenty of good hunters that did not even feel one of there antlerless tags all archery season. The only years I did not get a buck in archery were 1997,2005 and this year. After starting crossbow hunting in 1996, I believe this would have been the worst weather of all the seasons. I am a meat hunter more than a trophy hunter and I like eating females over bucks so I feel very fortunate to harvest these 3 deer. However, I would be lieing if I said I did not want to harvest a trophy buck evey year. Looks like the gun is coming out for that buck like many others. Good luck hunters and be safe. God bless to all.
