My best yet

Post by fuel80guy »

I had just reached my height with my lone wolf climber and set my bow up on its hanger.I didnt even have a chance to put my face mask or hat on and i heard a deer grunt in the ravine. To my surprise i see this buck 90 yards away from me grunting away. The buck then decides to bed down next to a small creek. This gave me the opportunity to knock an arrow. He got up and went to drink out of the creek so i reached for my estous can call to entice him in closer.I was dumbfounded when i tip my can a few times and he didnt even respond at all,,,i thought what the heck this buck is deaf.I was facing the tree standing up when i heard a noise behind the tree and it was a hot doe about 70 yards behind the tree on the ridge so the buck couldnt see her. After drinking he came up the ridge just grunting away which was pretty neat to hear,,,i live to hear that sound every fall.I had my bow in hand as the buck came by my tree looking for the doe and he stopped 22 yards quartering away,,,perfect.
I drew my bow only to have my safety harness stop me from drawing fully.
I had to let the bow down unrelease then put my release back on string while having the safety harness tether strap between both bow arm and release arm.i believe wearing a harness is a must but i was cursiing it that morning.I settled my 20 yard pin on him and released the easton epic with a rage 2 blade at him only to see that i shot him low.
He ran 10 yards and just stood there with his butt facing me and no shoot available.
At this point i wasnt even sure that i hit him and for that matter i was positive i didnt miss him,,,we have all been there.
Now im watching him still facing away from me looking left at the doe and then right at about a dozen turkeys.
Finally he turns right and i already had him ranged at 33 yards so i made a good double lung shot with another rage 2 blade at him and he expired 50 yards away.
This is my best deer yet and im pretty proud of him.
I hope you enjoy my long story and pics.
