the dog days of deer season
dogs have hit the woods here so most of all deer movement has stopped during daylight in thos areas. What mature bucks that are out there have bedded with doe and arent moving at all. Hunting accounts this pass week to now have been slim pickins for mature deer.
But they must feed soon... I cant wait till late December or before some rough weather hits. Thats about the only thing that will get them moving now.
I went from seeing 10-20 deer per day hunting to maybe 2-3 now..
anyone else notice everything slowing down?

Not me ... not here! More deer activity on this farm than at any time since late summer. Many more deer out and about!crazyfarmer wrote: anyone else notice everything slowing down?
Grizz
It is in full swing here. The bucks have bedded does and are moving from one to the next. They are responding well to calls.
The Swede has passed on some really nice bucks at twenty-five yards or less. I was almost screaming at her to shoot when one particular buck passed under our climbers. But no, she apparently will not shoot anything that does not surpass the buck I took back in the beginning of October. It is an evil plot on her part. I now accompany her only about half the time she goes out. I really think she wants to do this without my involvement. Go figure.
I am glad we do not use dogs here. Not that I cast any negatives to those that participate in this type of hunting. I have done it myself in Florida and had an absolute ball while participating. It is very social.
As the number of receptive doe's dwindle, I expect even more buck activity here in Southwest Ohio.
I just marvel at the quality and quantity of the bucks we have here.
And it just seems to get better every year!

I killed two wild dogs last week.
we are overrun with them.
I live not far from Mayport Naval Station.
When dad gives junior a puppy and then they get restationed, sometimes the dog get's taken to the woods and dropped off.
In my woods there are several large packs of them.
I never leave my kill in the woods and I am always armed.
