Ohio Crossbow Buck

Post by Mike P »

This picture has been making the rounds at a lot of sites as of late.

It does have the Ohio metal tag on the rack and a crossbow is seen in the picture. Judging from the leaves and green foliage, the buck must have been taken in October.

Anyone have any additional information on this buck?

Is Ohio the only state that uses metal tags like that? If that was an Ohio buck, I thought we would hear about it before now... just my 2c

This buck is a big mystery! It is on the Boone and Crockett watch list... It reportedly scored 320. That's all I know.

I seen that deer during bow season here in VA but passed on it, we try to let the little buck grow to maturity down here. Can't figure out how he made it that far north though. He does seem to have put on a little mass since I seen him though.

Yes, they will.

B & C will accept any buck that is taken with a legal method. Even found deer and roadkills.

P & Y only accepts deer that meets their stringent equipmentrequirements. That does not include (and never will) crossbows..

Woody is right....

B&C considers crossbow a gun so they count it. P&Y only scores compound bow deer and not crossbow deer.

Va finally added a crossbow class to its deer classic last year, but for the record bucks anything with a crossbow is under B&C
