CB Design/Engineering Question

Post by bkisel »

Hi,

Why does the string have to be laying on the rail with so much force? Wouldn't the bow shoot OK with the string just kissing the rail and wouldn't that result in a lot less serving wear?

Thanks...

I have the vortex model and my string doesn't touch the rail. It is a hair above and shoots just fine.
I am a hunter and proud of it.

My guess would be that since the arrow is resting down in a groove, and since the string has to have good contact with the nock, that if you raised the string from there it might go whizzing over top of the arrow. I also suspect that the string would try to resist the force of pushing the arrow and look for an easier path, if it could simply go over top it would.
Just an over informed newbie with a misinformation spreading disorder- and a Vortex
