Strung or Un-Strung For winter storage

Post by Migabby »

I don't see much time left for me to hunt this year. So I want to put my Vixen away for the winter. Should I remove the String or leave it Strung? :?:

Some guys unstring their bows long term storage but mine's been strung since the day I got it with no adverse effects. I have a buddy who's Wolverine has been strung for almost 19 years with no harm done.

I don't take mine off .

But if you do, don't forget to take the pads off first.

I leave mine strung... Never know when you may want to shoot a target or 2. Mine has been strung since I got it this time last year..

I like to follow Bill T's advice - Should you unstring?

I remove the disapator pads, let the bow down, remove the string ( fold and tie with some twine to prevent unwinding), clean, lube, remove bow from barrel and store in safe during the hard-water stage.
