Forum friends and APPRECIATION!!!

Post by groundpounder »

I just wanted to thank again and let the forum know of another one of our GREAT forum members. I have become long distance friends without ever meeting forum member Jason Mountford (STANDS ALONE). Jason and I usually write via email now on our goings on and I've done a few projects along the way for Jason. I have also learned that Jason and his father have a unique hobby. They are "flintknappers". And Jason is featured on the website http://www.flintknappers.com. He surprised me at the beginning of this year with a wedding present. He sent me a beautiful arrowhead made from "Snowflake Obsidian". A stone he chose for a picture that he had seen of my wife and I in the snow. The stone looks like black glass with flakes of ash in it. This is from it being a volcanic stone. Then this week he surprised me with another arrowhead. This one being made from a colorful piece of "Banded River Pebble Jasper". He then mounted it to a hand plained Port Orford cedar shaft and attached it traditionally with deer sinew and deer glue. It is a very sharp looking piece and "sharp" too! I told Jason I did not see how Indians use to be able to take down game with stone arrowheads until holding and feeling how sharp and effective I imagine these heads could be.

Thanks again Jason and thanks for letting me share this with our forum members.

Thankyou Todd & forum members, very kind words my friend.
I would like to add by saying that this is without doubt one of the best forums that i have ever had the pleasure of being a member. i have learnt so much from a great number of you, i don't really get a great deal of time to make that many posts but i do try & make regular visits to see how everyone is doing on their hunts etc.
Todd has become a good friend over the past couple of years, he's always found the time & been ready to help me if i ask for his help & i hold him in high regard as one of the most genuine & kind friends that i have made through the forum.
Don (BOO) is another member i hold in high regard & have had the pleasure of getting to know & can call a friend. Norm, Ray any many others have helped answer my questions & offered their advice when i first joined as a newbie.
Thankyou all & i would like to wish all forum members a Very Happy Christmas Holiday & Best Wishes for 2010
Kind Regards Jason

Incredible work Jason!!! How many did you break in order to complete that obsidian one? Painstaking work I'm sure!

From time to time people do post their works of 'art' on the forum, and there are some amazingly talented people here. It truly boggles my mind to see what passion and precision these people put into their work.

Awesome!!
