Cool trick

Post by damatheny »

A friend at work asked me to sight in the crossbow he just got because he's kinda new to the whole thing and really screwed up the red dot scope. I said yea bring it in, well I got to thinking I could use my cheap 5 dollar laser pointer.

So I get his Horton and put the laser in the channel under the string to hold the button on, then looking through the truglow it was roughly a mile off both ways so then I moved the windage till it was in line with the laser dot and moved the elevation above the laser about 3" high @15' and took a shot 10 yrds and it was close enough to step back to 20 yrds and fine tune.

This seem to work really well so I thought I would share the idea.
sorry if this has already been brought up.

Well done, awesome! I've been on this board for years and this is a first. You get the patent!

Yes bore sighting your crossbow makes sense, but no-one has ever mentioned it!

Now we just need you to come up with some arrow and broadhead ballistic charts to go with your laser pen.

You can have the patent because you for posted it first, :) but I made one several years ago at the store. Laser boresighter stuck inside a piece of arrow shaft, then placed on the rail under the string.

On an Excalibur, just align the crosshairs so the laser dot is just above the top chevron, and that will get you pretty close with the main crosshair at 20 yards.

But we stopped using it because 9 times out of 10 the scope is close enough right out of the box to put an arrow on the target block. Maybe I'll take it out of retirement for the last busy weekends before Christmas... :)

You can use a boresighting tool the same way - gets you close.
