My hunting was cut back for about 7 years . . .some of the best years of my life, so far. :D

Congrats!

Hey, congratulations Dirty Gun! :D

But if I could offer some words of advice... next time aim for conception in April or May to ensure that the baby's due-date is after bow season. Anything else is simply poor planning

My November deer camp has an unwritten rule that during January/February all members are to either obstain from sex or be doubly sure that contraception measures are fully implemented!

There will be no worries about that, since once our second child arrives, we're done. :D

congrats :D The year we had our first child was the only year since I started hunting I did not get a deer. Everybody kept asking what was wrong with me. Why did you not get a deer this year. I would just say baby stress. And everybody knew what I was talking about. But I would never change it or trade it for the world. I often wonder why I did not have kids sooner. :)

Congrats, I know the feeling! After 15 years of marriage my wife and I are having our first child, due Feb 14th. Sonogram says it's a girl. So I have been doing as much hunting this year as possible. Currently looking forward to PA flintlock season.

Well congrats to you too 'Dad' . The arrival of my first child was incredible and she has brought joy to my life every day since. I'll always remember the minute the nurse handed her to me in a private room while my wife was being tended to (emergency c-section) and those little eyes looked at me in total bewilderment. The first words I said to her were: "Welcome to the world little one...yep...I'm your Dad. Sorry, I'm what you're stuck with." She has been 'daddy's little girl' ever since. Sure, she's a 'little princess' thus far and is exhibiting incredibly 'girly' traits at 21 months, but hopefully one day she'll be up to joining dear old dad out in the woods.

As for our second, yet to come, I have no preference regarding the sex of the child. My little girl is amazing and I wouldn't mind another one. Healthy baby...that's all I ask for. We went through quite a scare when our first was just eight weeks old and she ended up at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto for an extended stay. I wish that on no parent, ever. Beautiful facility...I never want to see it again.

All the best on the arrival of your little one. It's more exciting than any buck you'll ever take, guaranteed.

Kids are an incredible blessing! TPM and I got a (very) late start, but having Ben has been the most amazing experience. Wish we could have had more, but it wasn't to be so we're grateful for the miracle of the one we have. Sure I've done a lot less hunting since becoming a Mom, but I just had Ben crawl into my lap and plant a kiss on my cheek - wouldn't trade that for any deer! :D

Enjoy every precious moment with them even if it means a bit less time in the woods!
