New To Crossbow Questions

Post by gridironcoach »

Sorry, I am new to crossbows and crossbow hunting. I have a few questions that I hope I can get some answers for. I just recently purchased and Excalibur Ibex. I only purchased the crossbow, not the package deal. I bought some bolts and some broadheads at a local store. The bolts are carbon x bolt by Victory, they have a half moon nock. The broadheads are G5 Striker 125 gr. I also bought some rail lube. Will this work instead of the wax? Will all these work, or do I need to exchange some items? Thanks.

Excal. recommends flat nocks, maybe get some string wax, every thing else you have seems ok,you don't have to lube the rail the string wax will take care of that...

Welcome to the forum gridironcoach, I agree with what bdog has said. Dont use the half moons, and use string wax. I dont know what kind of grouping you will get with the G5's, but they seem like a popular head. Someone here will know.

WELCOME Coach! Image String conditioner of some sort is good. I think I have only slicked my rail twice and that was with a Teflon dry lube. Probably more for me than the bow. :D

The rail lube is probably ok but get yourself some Dalton High Speed String Conditioner.

The Victory arrows are supposed to be a good arrow and you can grind the half moon nock flat.
The Strikers are a great broadhead, very accurate and extremely sharp!

Welcome to the forum!!!!!!!!!

Get flat nocks in your arrows, get some string wax for the serving, and go ahead and use the Strykers. :D
