Jaguar Crossbows...

Post by bkisel »

Hi,

Are any of you folks familar enough with the Jaguar CB to make comparisons between it and the Exocet? If so please share what you know about the Jaguar with me.

My brother has been ragging me about how much better his recently purchaced, much cheaper (< $150.00) Jaguar crossbow is than my Exocet. He has shot my Exocet and claims his Jaguar is much more quiet and just as accurate. He says it is a lighter and more compact crossbow than my Exocet. I'm not familar with the bow so can't say much to rebutt his claims except to put him off and say we'll talk once he's taken a deer with the bow.

Thanks...

Try shooting it.

He hasn't had it long enough to really compare. Give it a while and let us know.

I'm very happy with my Exocet and know that it is a quality CB. However, it might just bother me a bit if his Jaguar were indeed that much more quiet than the Exocet. BTW, the aluminum 2219 arrows he got with the bow measure only 16.5". At Cabela's a few days ago he got some 2216 22" CB arrows that that Cabela's cut down for him while he did some other shopping. I'd love to get his CB cronographed, I find it hard to believe the Jaguar doing 310 fps being a 175 lb. recurve limb.

My neighbor has one of them. I sighted it in fer him even gave him 8 2213 arrows fer it. Its a china made CB slower than molassases in winter. It can't even shoot in the same speed as my old vixen using 585 gr arrows. my vixen makes his look like an old 140fps longbow,

It may do 210 with 16.5" GT II's with alum. inserts. We shot it at 20 yds. at 30 yrs it would fall about 10" over the extra 10 yds.

My hope is that folks buying these really cheap CBs don't get turned off to CBs in general but rather get their appetite wet for a higher quality product.

I can say that out to 25 yds it will take a deer with good BH's. Its about like the older CB's from the 70's or early 80's. I wouldn't buy one personally. Even a Horton 150 lb is a better CB, than the jaguar

For me i dont go hunting to save money!!! If i add up the cost of all my eq that i hunt with and put in to direct coralation the deer meat i get would cost me about $300.00 a pound.I am lazy and if i get up before daylite and go hunting i want the best eq i can get. Excal has a top notch track record in all aspects. There maybe lighter, faster, cheaper, quieter, better shooting crossbowes out there(you notice i did not say more acurate or dependable) but i will never know because i already owen the best thanks Excaliuber.

In another sales ad it states it will shoot up to 210 fps.   http://www.fingerhut.com/ProductGroup.a ... 0423c27407 And yes it's carried by Fingerhut! :lol:Keep your Exocet. You made the right choice. The fact that Fingerhut carries it should tell you something. lmao.  Please read the reviews of the crossbows on the fingerhut site as well.

JUNK compaired to excalibur crossbows....my friend bought one and it shoots maybe 240 fps with a 275 gr arrow, no where near the 310 fps they say they do....it's only a 175 pound crossbow that shoots 16" arrows....i wouldn't put that in my enemies hands, well maybe....at 175 bucks i think it's a waste of money.........bob

Fingerhut . . .that's funny!  Just show your brother the ad. Fingerhut has been known to sell some crap. However, I did get some great unicorn towels from there once.
