Which broadhead will you use for turkeys ?

This will be my first season turkey hunting with the Vortex and could use some input on what has worked well for you guys and gals.
I have SlickTricks, Rage 2 &3 blade models, and Spitfire GobblerGetters that I have used with the vertical bow, but am open to any suggestions since I will be using the Excal this year. Thanks in advance.

Last year I took mine with a rage 3 blade
17 yard shot, the tom took 10 steps and fell

If you keep your shots close and can hit what you aim at, it ain't no different than shooting a deer. JMHO.

I have not carried a gun turkey hunting for 5 or 6 years.
You need to learn where to shoot them. And then wait on the shot.
The Spitfire is about as good as your going to find.

I took 2 birds last year. One with my Exomag and one with my compound bow. Both were taken using Spitfire Gobbler Getters and none went more then 8 yards after the shot. I was impressed.

gonna stick to the 12 guage for turkey ...can only get out for about 2 and a half days ...so it's got to count when i let loose on one ...if i get one down early will switch to muzzy 100s 4 blades ......

Luckily my season runs from May 3-May 31, so lots of time for the Vortex.
I haven't shot any of my Spitfires or Rage heads with it yet, are you using any additional banding to keep the blades from opening prematurely ? Or is it not a problem ?

I have a DoubleBull but have no intentions of using it, maybe if the weather is bad. If I do, I will not be shooting thru any mesh.

I have been shooting the spitfires as is. I have shot the gobbler getters out of a Ibex no problems. I have not shot through mesh. This bow season i used the spitfire maxx heads. They are my head of choice for deer. I plan on turkey hunting with them also.

I was looking for something else these may be what I decide to get I did not recover my fall bird until the the next day after an evening hunt and there wasn't much left of him(yotes)

Slicks for me. Everything I've shot w/ them ended up 'graveyard' dead in short order.

I've been using the Tricks for deer the last 3 seasons and you're correct, "awesome" heads. Fly right with my field points whether using the vertical bow or the Vortex. Hit em in the right place and I've never found a stronger, better flying, better performing fixed blade head, and I've shot a bunch of them in the last 35 years. I haven't tried them on longbeards though. Do you add anything to them as a "stopper" or just shoot em plain for turkeys ?
