I've got one too, a Cooey 600, tube magazine. Had it for well over 40 years, still shoot it once or twice a year.
According to the link munch posted, it's "Post-1961 Cooey firearms made by Winchester include: Model 10, Model 39, Model 60, Model 600, Model 64,...". Says on it "Made in Cobourg, Ont." I rarely get through an entire magaine without at least one round jamming, but with a scope and off a bench rest it'll hit poker chips at 50 yards.
Great idea, shortening it like that. I think I'll try it, too. I have a little guy at home - he's still a bit young to use his Red Ryder, but in a few years I'll get him shooting this one.
That brings back memories. I remember going "hunting" with my dad once, probably when I was around 11 or 12. He had a shotgun, I had this Cooey. We saw a squirrel sitting on a fencepost just a few yards away so I tried a shot. I put the scope right on it and fired, but it was so close the bullet hit the post just under the squirrel and that thing shot up about 10 feet in the air. You never saw a rodent move so fast.
