aluminum/component/weight

Post by DMc »

After reading the recent threads on carbon/aluminum arrows I thought I might give aluminums a try. I could use some suggestions on what has worked well for others. Specifically, brand components including broadheads and weights.
Thanks.

I also like the 21series alum. mine are cut to 19in I cut the brass gold tip insert down to 50gr. nock is 8grs, 4in feathers are 9gr, 2114 is 191grs. I use 100gr magnus ss snuffers with these arrows and they go where I want in a hurry,

Great info guys, just the type of info I am looking for. I will add that this is for an Exocet 200 that is going to be tackling Elk this next year.

Keep it coming.

A good leading cutting BH is what I would use, there are a few good ones out there

I like Easton's XX78 2216 digital superslams armed with the 150 grain
boltcutters & fletched with 2" blazers using gorilla glue or loctite gel.
My 2216's are also nocked with the Easton "tracer nocks."

I've used from 2013 to 2216 and many others...and have notice little difference. I've use both Bear Razorheads and Spitfire. The Spitfire 125 is what I've used the past 5 years or so. I fletch yet with 5" plastic vanes (just because I have a stock of them yet but will try the shorter vanes when I run out of these). Flight has been excellent with every size I've tried. I don't know if the vanes make a lot of difference but am told they do. Yet, it isn't broke so perhaps I should not try to fix it.

I have the vortex. I use a 125 gr. spitfire on an aluminum 2219 shaft with 4" duravanes and an aluminum insert with a luminok. The arrow weights 487 grains, nothing but in one side and out the other. :D
I am a hunter and proud of it.

Thanks everyone. Bob do you know what the FOC is on your setup? Also the all up weight? How well do the GT brass inserts fit the 2117 shafts?
