Width of Excalibur bows
Someone on another forum asked about the width of Excalibur bows. Mine is put away for the winter so I can't measure it. Perhaps someone could post here what their's is in the cocked and uncocked position.

Re: Width of Excalibur bows
Thanks smokepolehall. I was thinking it was not quite that much but close. Mine is an Exomag but probably the same.

Boo, reminded me that it maybe diff fer each model depending on the power stroke.
Re: Width of Excalibur bows
I'm sure there has to be some difference but I'm thinking it is not too much.

Ya, the new bows have to be sweet! Not sure if one is in the budget or not though. My bow has to be around 20 years old now but still going strong.Cossack wrote:Matrix 6" narrower..woo hoo>

I could be wrong but aside from the new Matrix models I think the limbs are all the same size, its the rail that changes size and determines draw weight.

Re: Width of Excalibur bows
I don't think the rail length that determines the draw weight at all but the length can determine the speed if the limbs are the same.Bullzeye wrote:I could be wrong but aside from the new Matrix models I think the limbs are all the same size, its the rail that changes size and determines draw weight.

I pretty sure that the pre-Matrix CBs all use the same limbs & the difference in the draw weight, (how many pounds it takes to cock the CB), is the length of the rail.

Re: Width of Excalibur bows
Yes the limbs of all the pre-Matrix models are the same. However depending on the riser the width can vary slightly. When unstrung the width is 36 7/8" and 36 1/2" on an Excalibur with a straight riser and forward riser respectively. When strung, but uncocked it's 36" and 35.5" on them. Of course depending on the brace height the measurements can be slightly more or less.Bullzeye wrote:I could be wrong but aside from the new Matrix models I think the limbs are all the same size, its the rail that changes size and determines draw weight.

Re: Width of Excalibur bows
Also, just remembered, the width of an Excalibur which is cocked is NOT the same for every model. In other words the longer the rail (i.e. powerstroke) the narrower the width will be.Bullzeye wrote:And there you have it, thanks Lou.
That also applies to the Matrix models. When strung/spanned, but uncocked the width is the same for all Matrix model, However, when cocked the 330 will be slightly wider than the 355, which is slightly wider than the 380, with the 405 having the narrowest width.
Of course, the difference isn't very much.

Cocked and uncocked width for the Matrix series of bows is in the 2014 catalog. http://www.excaliburcrossbow.com/downloads/2014cat.pdf
Check out the captions for each bow and you can get an idea of the differences.
