photo contest: open for voting

Post by chris4570 »

With the last deer season drawing to a close we can start the voting.

Please one vote only. Please pay attention to the rules. If a vote is cast for a pic that does not follow the rules I will pm you and ask that your vote be re-cast.

Considering the time of year, and not every one frequenting the forum as often, the voting will be open for two weeks.

Here is the original post with rules:

The rules for the photo contest are fairly basic: take a picture of your crossbow harvest , in a tasteful, clean manner. No blood, hanging tongues, or pick-ups. The picture needs to show a tag, where applicable by your game laws. The picture needs to show your crossbow. The contest is open only to forum members. And to be fair to all current forum members the contest will only be open to forum members with a joined date of Sept 22, 2009 or earlier.

Although any game species can be entered, due to the fact that the majority of forum members hunt mainly deer with their crossbows, the deadline for entries will be no later than one week after the last deer season ends.

The prizes will be awarded based upon forum member votes, except the groundpounder mount courtesy of Peach which will be awarded to the youngest enterant. One vote per member.

1st prize-crossbow, picture frame
2nd prize-slick tricks, custom bolts
3rd prize-groundpounder mount, camo swivel seat.

Please post your pictures in the yet to be made "2009 trophy room" thread. I noticed some forum members may not wish to participate in the photo contest, so if you are posting a picture in the trophy room and want to be apart of the contest please indicate that.

It was a very tough decision between Laura and catcher for me. I was also thinking about Billplewes pic, but according to the rules his join date is after the allowable timeframe. Catcher has a beautiful pic there with his kids and a good looking deer with the tag showing too, no signs of blood, and an uncocked crossbow. And all are wearing smiles!

Very tough, but my vote goes to catcher.

Like Doe Master I too remember this falls hunt like it was yesterday. And I will also not vote for myself.

There are some great pics for sure.

But I decided to vote for FishnHunter photo #2. I love in the field pics.

I also liked Bigcal58s. He sent me a his harvest info, so his pic is good to go.

There are some very good pics on there. Hard to choose just one.
However I did notice alot that "did not" fit the rule criteria. I have narrowed my choice down to three.
The wife and I are going to make a decision after the Can.-US. hockey game on now.
Phoenix - 375 gr. BEE's (babyneilsons)
Micro 315 - 410 gr. Zombies/Lumenoks
Micro 355. - Punisher-Zombies/Lumenoks

OH YAAAA!!!! GOLD!!
So I reviewed many times over 7 pics that really stood out.
Chris4570, Big58cal, Londondave, catcher, RJ, Fishn-hunter, Boo.
Then I started dropping ones that had something not quite right.
That left Fishn-hunter, londondave, RJ, and Boo. If you look at the pics you will see my reasoning.
So, which of the four is it for my vote? Give me a sec.
So here it is:
1st. place to Fishn-hunter, pic. no# 3
2nd. place to Boo
3rd. place to RJ.
So my vote is Fishn-hunter pic. no. 3

The original post was made prior to the 2009 trophy room being started.

Yes pictures of non-crossbow animals are shown. Please see rules.

great job everyone, I have at least 10 to choose from, great job lots of clear, clean tastful pictures. It's a hard call, but my vote is for CATCHER, his picture met all the criteria, plus a big buck and 3 big smiles. two future hunters I' assuming.

Mine goes to billplewes, his last picture is gorgeous!

Edit:Chris has told me that because of the join date billplewes' pic does not qualify so my vote goes to Londondave's pic on page 3. Billplewes, keep up the good work! Great deer, perfect timing lighting wise!

I didn't think this decision would be as hard as it is!!! I loved Saxman's deer resting on his backpack. Sunset's 2nd photo was really good too. I enjoy looking at Vixenmaster's talking deer and of course, Catcher's is priceless. I'm going to have to go with Boo's Piggy. I love that beautiful bow and the setting. Ok, I was swayed a bit by the wonderful story too.
