Post by Rich »

Since we all seen Crazy's awesome new Man Cave, let's see some more. Here's mine. The pups are real  , they spend as much time in there as I do.

That Pickerel mount is just awesome, I have never seen anything like that before.

WOW Vort!!!! I don't think I've ever seen such a variety of mounts, how long have you been hunting?

Also, I didn't see a pickerel mount as mentioned above, I did see a stringer full of walleye though.

Here is mine, 4 walls of cinderblock, doorway cut in through one of those walls. The door is iron, 3 point lock on it, made by our member here Chris4570, he came and measured my crooked door frame then made the door to fit, it turned out absolutely perfect and is very secure.

Chris did an outstanding job on the door, because of his work I will soon be getting rid of my gun cabinets, they will be replaced by a wall length iron gun rack, that Chris will end up making for me.
Today, when I was taking these pictures, my wife came down and said that she wants to shuffle some furniture around for me, give some space to get my 40+ fishing poles out of the shop and in to my room. We spend a lot of time down there watching hunting DVD's, cleaning firearms and just hanging out.
I certainly do not have the trophys some of you have to hang, mine are the countless things my kids have made for me over the years to show their support for my hobby. I have walls full of memories and things that have meaning to me.

Well some Canadians call walleye pickerel, but pickerel are part of the pike family. Dont mean to pick on ya pyd, just clearing that up. Dont ask me why/how Canadians started with the whole pickerel thing???

These pics are awesome!! I cant contribute any, but do enjoy seeing everyone elses "man caves" :D

It is more correctly called Walleyed Pike (when I was in forestry school) but the name Pickeral comes from The English "pike" originally referred specifically to the adult fish, the diminuitive form "pickerel" (now used to name some of the smaller pikes, E. americanus and E. niger) referring to the young. The walleye (Sander vitreus) is sometimes called a pickerel, but it is unrelated to the pikes, being a member of the perch family (family Percidae). The pikes are not to be confused with the unrelated pikeminnows (formerly known as "squawfish") of genus Ptychocheilus (family Cyprinidae).
