Modified Video Camera Mount

After setting around for the past week wondering how I was going to mount a camera on my Exocet 175 during turkey season, I came up with this idea.

I took a Groundpounder mount and coated the flat plate with Liquid rubber to hold the vibration down during the shot. It will also cushion the camera after being mounted and help protect it from large amounts of vibration as well.
I took and drilled a 7/16 hole in between the two already existing holes for the quiver bracket and then taped it out to ¼ x 20 threads.
I had an old plastic round head screw lying around not being used and threaded it through the bottom of the plate to mount the camera to the plate.
I also added 2 round Velcro patches to the plate to help secure the camera once it was in place.
I added Velcro to the bottom of the camera, screwed it down with the 1/4x20 to the plate and bingo… a camera mounted on my crossbow.

Nice job! That should work nicely. But why didn't you just buy the Groundpounder Camera Mount?

Looking good. However that videoscope can be used with only one mount if you want to have the option of switching it from one bow to another. Thats what I did when I had two bows.

Very nice job. I would be interested to know how it works. I found that the vibration of the bow throws the focus off. By the time it refocuses the action is over. Give it a few test shots and let us know how you make out.

I tried this too and the shock would make my camera turn off. I was also using an older camera.

I believe if you add a little soft foam between the camera and mount it will help with the vibration even more. Nice adaption!

No, actually it doesn’t affect the forward weight of the bow that much. That would be dependant on the video camera being used and how much it weighs. The video camera I am using is made by Vivatar and is very compact and light.

The only problem with that is that I don’t use a scope on my Exocet and I had no way of mounting the Bushnell Videoscope to that bow as the mount for the bushnell is for a scope only.

Sax, Hope that you’re doing better. I lucked up and got the one I have off E-bay for $115.00 with no shipping, that’s a good place to start looking. God Bless buddy.

I was worried about the shock as well, which is why I rubber coated the mount and added several of the Sims small stick on vibration dampeners to the mount as well. I will find out tomorrow if it is a problem or not.
