Coyote Appreciaition

Post by Adam »

All this talk of hating coyotes lately made me want to post mine from this season. Coyote hunting to me is a close second to deer hunting if not right up there with it. Turning on that call just at dusk and hearing howling working its way closer and closer puts a big smile on my face.

Feel free to post your pics as well.

Great pictures Adam! My favorite way of veiwing coyotes. I almost had pics of two of my own but the yotes were slightly faster than my 4wheeler yesterday.

I hear ya man. I started yote hunting last year and I am hooked. Hitting the bush at 6:15 tomrow in hopes of knocking one down. I went form no varmint gun to all the bells and whistles and reloading my own ammo. Great way to spend the winter.

Nice yotes there!

The top one was shot at just shy of 350 yards. The second was right at 200 yards. I am using a Remington 700 SPS Varmit .243 and a Foxpro FX3. What is everyone else using, dogs or callers?

I like your post subject.

I think it is good to have an appreciation for all of God's creatures. They all have their place in the food chain, us too. Coyotes are no different than deer or turkeys. Kept in manageable numbers they do not become troublesome. I was brought up with a strong belief in not shooting something simply for the sake of shooting it. I have had numerous coyotes in my sights and passed on them because they were not threatening me. I have had many coyote encounters which were followed up in minutes with other game animals. There are very healthy deer, rabbit, and turkey populations in my area, so I don't see the problem with sharing them with yotes. If the yotes start getting out of control, then that is a different story.
I hunt for memories, the meat's a bonus!
