New Crossbow Season

The NSACH participated in the NS Provincial Wildlife Meetings last weekend in Bridgewater, NS, and as a result of those meetings, the hunting community adopted a resolution that proposes a new seperate crossbow season for would be crossbow hunters in Nova Scotia. We felt that in order to gain some woods time prior to the rifle season, and to keep the peace among the many other user groups, a seperate season was the way to go. We will be able to manage harvest statistics, hunter participation, season structure......you name it!

Bottom line is we will be along side other arrow hunters, sharing the woods and the resource, fairly and equally.

Now we just need to get it into law. We are pushing to have the season enacted for 2010, but legislative procedure can be slow at times.

That will be great for us. A better deal than last year. When will the government allow us to hunt other game animals? Thank you.

I think Raymond, lots of opportunities are in the works right now. Quite a few proposals are before the government, just waiting for that last final approval. Now that we are officially into the new fiscal year, I am hoping news starts flowing from the government as to what we can hunt in 2010. Our DNR is a few weeks behind on alot of things, including the new regulations......our Zones are being reviewed, the Moose lottery is being scrutinized, crossbow opportunities are being examined......and to top it all off, our head DNR Wildlife Biologist is retiring.....the guy that basically has the final say is stepping down!
