How many deer do you see on a typical outing?

Post by Woodsman »

What is the average number of deer do you see on an average outing? I've been averaging around 1-3 deer.

Not that I haven't been skunked multiple times, but I usually see a couple when I'm in my tree. Too bad they've been does/fawns so far. :?

I would have to say that more times than not I don't see anything.

Well being that I am very lucky I hunt a big private wheat and imperial clover field with corn feeders hidden in a valley with heavy timber all around it I see about 8-20 deer most every hunt.Mostly does, but the last week with the rut going full speed I saw about 2-6 bucks every evening .Most were just 1.5 year old small bucks but every so often a guy see's a good one like the big mature ten point I saw last week twice. He really messed me up as I was shakeing the tree pretty bad as he was just about 100yards out for nearly a hour but never came close enough for a shot with the exocet. Thats archery hunting I guess.

I was seeing 20 to 40 deer a day durring the rut and anywhere between 10 and 30 other days. We have an over population of deer in the D.C. area. In my region we are limited only by how many doe's we want to shoot. We are alowed 2 bucks durring each season. I pass up bucks every day except when he is one that needs to be cualed out, or a good P&Y

S**t y'all are making me pretty jealous. Until recently 2 days ago I usually only see maybe 10 a season. Looks like I need to find a better spot!

I have been chasing a very large buck (dollar bill size prints) on a large track of heavily-hunted public land. He is a local legend in this particular area. I saw him last summer while fly fishing. He has to go close to three hundred pounds (which is gigantic here in Maryland). I found new prints during the youth hunt, so he is probably still alive.

Where I hunt (Bedford, Quebec, private land, farm, zone 5) I see between 5-20 deer easy . On the 22 of Nov at 6.45 AM there were 4 does 1 yearling in the field at the edge of the woods feeding.
I chose to harvest the younger one with my old Barnette Camando 175 lbs. I will get 25-30 lbs of very tender meat. Waiting for my new Exomag as my Christmas gift..
