Took some well given advice

Post by RichJ »

I made a post lastweek asking about a Outhouse Blind.I got a few replies. Most advised me to go with a Doghouse over the Outhouse my brother had given me.Well I found what I think is a good deal on ebay.A new Doghouse Blind for $44.99 + shipping for a big $13.00. The only concern I have is itis in the Ameristep Tangle camo.Has anyone seen this pattern in person? If someone was asking me this question I'd say they were over thinking. I have killed more than enough deer Archery Hunting to know its more about movement than camo patterns.
Like to thank everyone for the good advise.

Camo pattern is good but extended exposure to UV tends to make it turn a PINK hue (not kidding) so don't leave it up long...unless you want to hunt form a pink blind.

Incurable tinkerer.
Why hunt? Simple, it's BASIC. Why breath?!

When it turns pink, just stomp it in the mud a bit before setting it up. Not a bad idea even if it's not pink as it makes it less shiny.

I've also read somewhere (here?) about someone doing a new spray painted camo job over the pink-ish.

If it's a new blind then just keep it in the shade as much as possible to keep from excessive sun exposure or brush it in.

My Doghouse has the original Tangle pattern (a bit different than the Tangle 2.0 that I see on their website now). I was a little uncertain about the Tangle pattern until I set up my blind along a field edge. I hollowed out a spot among the thick dogwood and hawthorn and it blended in perfectly.

It just so happened that the landowner had his Doghouse, in a Realtree pattern, set up at the other end of the field. The Realtree pattern stuck out much more.

I think the Realtree would have the advantage in the hardwoods.

I have a similar blind, what if I were to cut an inch or so off each roof poles that would reduce the tension and ease the pressure on the zippers.

I hunt in South Eastern PA so most of my spots are small or off of someones yard. The chances of me leaving up w/o me hunting out of it is VERY slim. So hopefully fading won't be an issue. You even leave a hang-on stand up for any period of time it may up and vanish. However the fading to pink seems to be a plus with the ladies. I may have to set it outside to fade for some attention. Everything has a advantage!

Will give it a shot.

What about a generator and a fan to keep the pressure high in the blind that would float the roof up.

the deer do not care what pattern of camo you have on the blind. all of these camo patterns are made to please you the hunter. the only one that i know of that is meant to fool the deer is ASAT camo.
If it isn't hectic, it isn't hunting!
