Recommend to me a grunt call

Post by ninepointer »

I'm thinking of getting a new deer grunt call. What make/model has worked succesfully for you? What would you recommend?

Bob,
Thanks for the praise. I wish I had time to make calls, but it seems like priorities constantly change, and calls making has been put on a back burner for now.
You guessed right, though. I do have one extra call I made last winter.

PM sent ninepointer - I'd like to see you change your handle to twelvepointer.

Here's one example of several tube calls I have here at home already made up. This one is made from Bocote and would be $30.00 shipped to Canada. I make the calls as a hobby and put my 30 yrs. expierence of woodworking and archery hunting into them. Image
Give it a try,What the heck!

I use the HS True Talker. Love it...can make any sound I want with it. So suits me fine...I like not having to have more than one.

Forum member Bucont makes an awesome grunt call. A fellow forum member gave me one of his grunt calls for Christmas and I love it. Shoot him a pm and see what he has.

any of the flextone ones;) The mad calls buck growl is nice also, but a little to deep for my likes. The basic flextone grunt tube which wlamart sells for 6bucks has the best sound of anything ive heard. It sounds just like the real thing and its amazing that half the clals made dont even sound like a realistic grunt! Most dont even realize what a grunt actaully sounds like :D

Plus 6 bucks is nice because I have a bad habit of losing or breaking them

x 3 - that's my favorite, do-it-all call. No need to carry more than one. It does great grunts, as well as doe & fawn bleats.

I've been using the small calls from modern calls
They are soft and hands free.I use a true talker sometimes
I don't have much faith in calling down here so I use mine to stop a walking deer.

same here for the most part... deer dont grunt much at all so when they hear about 50 grunts every 30mins they know something is weird, unless its the rut.

I had the pleasure of hunting across the bottom from a guy whom I didnt know was in there... he grunted 15 times every 4mins. I just sat and laughed. Always saw deer in that area except for that one day

I have used the woodswise Buck n Doe call for years and have called (and taken) no less then 5 buck's into bow range that I wouldn't of had a shot at other wise. It's the best I've used so far. You can take the small piece out and put it in you mouth for hands free deer stopping as well.
