gonna make myself a wooden stock........

Post by bob1961 »

after seeing the different wood stock members have made for themselves and others, it got my gun building itch going again....i found a laminated stock place and settled on this laminated wood color....

I would love to have an Electric Blue laminate stock like this for my Excalibur.

Yup! Thats where I got the rosewood blank from for the last stock I made. The laminates are warp proof, and if you dent or ding it the stain is all the way through the blank so just sand it out and apply a finish. Only drawback is weight. It is a very dense material. Good Luck and keep us posted. 8)

That rosewood blank had a few little glue gaps in the glue lines but other than that, Hey, for 125.00 and a lot of advantages I think it was a great choice. You wil also like how the laminate lines make keeping the stock center a lot easier. Best of luck on it. lots of pics. :D

well i just got off the phone with that laminate stock place to find out something....there target blank isn't big enough for the excalibur stock to fit on....so my phone call to them was to find out if i can just get a 7" x 34" blank of wood instead of them cutting it out like the web site pic's show....being there machine is a cpu aided cutting machine they can't just send me a 7" x 34" chunk of wood....the way there machine works is they make there laminated blanks in a 12" x 34" piece that there machine then cuts two stock blanks from....the good news is i can buy one of there 12" x 34" blanks before it hits the machine for a price and for shipping that big ol hunk of wood to my zip code....now i have enough wood to do two stocks if i want or sell one blank to get some of my money back....this is gonna be a winter/spring project after hunting seasons are done with bout feb....so if anyone wants the other half of that tigerwood blank i'll be getting bout feb next year, pm me and lets work out a deal  ..........bob
