Michigan's NRC Vote Yesterday

Post by See4miles »

We all need to congratulate Laura for her incredible efforts to get the crossbow accepted as a mainstream hunting tool in Michigan. Her efforts, more than anyone else I know of, were a key factor in this ledgislative change.

I spoke with her via e-mail last night not knowing she was actually in Escanaba for the vote. She immediately relpied to me that she was "still shaking"

That my friends is passion! I am proud to know her!

Laura,
I expected nothing less than humility from you. But, you worked your behind off, and we all know it! Take your bow, you deserve it so very much!

Yesterday evening the Michigan Natural Resources Commission passed Option 3 of the crossbow proposals basically allowing full inclusion of crossbows in all deer seasons:

Option 3

> Allow crossbows to be used statewide by any individual 10 years of age or older.

> Continue to require that all crossbow hunters obtain a free crossbow stamp.

> Eliminate the sunset provision for the use of crossbow in the affected sections of the WCO.

> Maintain the provision that crossbows may be used for game that may be taken with a firearm.

> Repeals section 5.95 of the WCO that addresses permits for crossbow use by hunters with disabilities.

> Allow the use of modified bows when crossbows are legal.

> Remove the 350 fee per second bolt velocity restriction.

> Crossbows are not allowed to be used in the Upper Peninsula after November 30 except by the persons holding disabled permits.

> Continue to require that all crossbow hunters obtain a free crossbow stamp.

"Man, I wish there was a way to stop this nonsense. We are dealing with an untouchable force, something has to be done. It's still a part of the gov't "for the people by the people" and we need to find our loop hole. How in the world can we eliminate these appointed positions and turn them into an elected position. Just seems fishy that we as citizens can do nothing, something isn't right."

The untouchable force is called 'Truth' and 'Science'. (not surprising that some don't recognize it) We, as citizens were the ones presenting the 'force' at the meetings. Where was Arwin to present what he calls 'nonsense'?

Is not the "appointed" ones selected by individuals that are elected?

They are chosebn for their expertise are tehy not?

Arwin needs to study up before he comments..

The Michigan Crossbow Federation is a non-profit organization that is working on several levels to
• Educate hunters on the use and safety of crossbows,
• Open more clubs and ranges for recreational shooting along with vertical bows, and
• Provide opportunities for disabled hunters and underprivileged youth.

We need members, sponsors and people willing to work with other sportsman’s groups to benefit all.

In the near future we will be having raffles and are planning a fund-raising event on February 19th to raise money for these endeavors.

Easy member sign-up and T-shirt purchases are available on our website if you would be interested in joining a growing organization. http://michigancrossbowfederation.org
