Bolt cutter, field point question?
Bolt cutter, field point question?
OK I have had my Vortex for 2 years and been hunting with wasp boss 100 gr broadheads but I am thinking of buying some bolt cutters. I know they are 150 gr. Would it be best to site in my bow with 150gr field points and then fine tune it with the bolt cutters or use the 100gr field points I always use?

I would probably get the 150g field points and use those to dial it in. Then you would still be able to use the field points to practice with.
I think that the 150g Bolt Cutters are a great way to increase FOC but the only drawback to using a 150g broadhead is there is a very limited selection of offerings at that weight. I prefer to use a brass insert (110g for the Laser II's that I shoot) and a 125g broadhead (many use a 100g). This gets me to the same place FOC wise but I have a much greater selection of broadheads to choose from. I know that there are brass inserts available for other arrow types and that David at Wyvern Creations custom makes some as well.

Boltcutter is a great broadhead that flies excellent. But I use brass inserts and no longer need the 150g's. I was impressed when I left one outside for a year(lost) when I found it back again it looked like it was left out for one day!!
They are tough broadheads!!!

Bolt Cutters fly perfect and hit the same POI as my field tips. Absolutely use 150gr. field points if you switch to Bolt Cutters. They are also 100% stainless steel construction which is why One Shot's looked so good after a year outside in the elements.
