New Kid on the block

Post by Lakelover »

Hi All

Forgive my questions, I am new to all this.

For bolts. is the threaded forepart/insert a universal thread size?
Can broad heads from a compound bow be used for a cross bow?

Any god websites about arrow/bolt information, manufacture, fletching?

Has anyone ever used a crossbow on large fish like Carp? is there a setup for attaching a line to a bolt or is that looking for trouble?

I am from Saskatchewan Canada. I have the local hunting guide, but it's mention of crossbows is vague. They are legal but it is hard to fiqure out which season to use them. I have heard rumoers they may start a seperate season for CB. but nothing this year.

Anyone help me on this one?

Thanks all in advance

Any good websites about arrow/bolt information, manufacture, fletching? this one is as good as it gets

Has anyone ever used a crossbow on large fish like Carp? is there a setup for attaching a line to a bolt or is that looking for trouble? yes on bow fishing, limited knowledge would guess diff arrows [solid fiberglass?] Have read of Zebco 808 mounted to quiver brkt

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Well today was the day.
I took the day off as it rained yesterday.
I took out the target I bought. took out a tape measure and marked off 20 yards.
Assembled the rope cocking aid, pulled the string back until it clicked. Slipped the safety on and loaded the 1st bolt.

I took the shot standing. Wack. Hit the target 1st shot. GRIN
2nd wack grin repeat.

Humm 4 1/2" group first time I shot a crossbow.
Ran got the camera.

Another 4 made a 4" group

Moved to about 30 yards 3 were good one a bit off.
12 shots not 1 bolt lost!!!

Wow am I impressed!!

I called the CO and got the lowdown on Sask crossbow hunting.

Maybe used during muzzleloader and rifle season. Not archery ( few exception near big cities). Archery starts sept 1 Muzzleloader Oct 1.
During muzzleloading season can use camo, rifle season must wear safety colours.

I will be practising and try to set up some kind of bench rest.

My sweety wants to learn how to use it. She shot an Antelope a few years ago and caught a bit of the hunting bug.

When we went to #1 Archery and sports in Regina to pick up the Axiom, it was packed. This gave DW enough time to wander around and she found a nice Camo bikini. Since it was our 29th anniversary I bought it for her.

Hope to show deer pics early Oct.

How do I post a pic of the 1st shots
