cleaning and oiling trigger assembly

Post by strum »

I took my exmax apart just to give it a good cleaning ..
cleaned and waxed the rail so its slick as glass
Then i took the trigger apart..I know most are afraid of messing with that part but i found it to be very simple ..
I read that some polish the parts and whatnot..
I didnt want to get into that .I just cleaned the grit and grime.(wasnt much)
What I wanted to know is should i use some light gun oil or if not . what should if anthing should i use?..

I flushed out the trigger with Brake Clean and then sprayed Rem Oil into it. Rem Oil never gums up, just leaves a very thin film.

From what I remember,I stoped using WD40 on guns or small moving parts because its wax based.I think any good gun oil wood be fine. But just a few drops in the right plases. To much won't hurt, it just makes a mess. Snapshot

what i found was wax build up ..i dont think it had been shot much cuz the wear is very minimum but maybe the past owner used a lot of wax and thats what i cleaned up ..i only wiped it clean ..no chemicals. and there seamed to be a little oil of some sort in there..I aggree that most folks should not mess with their triggers but I have done a lot of machine work in my life and i know grit is not the friend
of precision made parts.
