home made BH target..........

Post by bob1961 »

here is my home made BH target i posted bout in another thread....home depot had 24" x 96" x 2" pink owen corning insulation foam boards for 14.70....i cut it in 19" sections and used spray contact adhesive to glue them together and it measures 24" x 19" x 10" thick....then used reinforced tape around the top and bottom to help keep them together as i keep it in a metal shed that gets hot....

i just drew 1" black dots on it with a marker for aim points  ..........bob

Looks great and the price is right! How well does it stop them and how is arrow removal?

i haven't shot into it yet, but the firmness of the foam is like a 3D deer target....i didn't want to buy a 100.00 target and get BH's stuck in it when the inserts pulled from the shafts..........bob

Looks great, but looks are just one aspect. I've been there and done that. You'll know what I mean after you shoot a broadhead or two.

The positive is that for what you spent, you'll get your money's worth.

The targets I use for my broadheads are only good for one shot.

Anymore than that and I'd be wasting meat.

oh i have never had any pull apart, just read the other thread bout the rinhart being cut open to get BH's out....i use hot melt and have never had an issue of pull outs....this foam is twice the density what plain white styro is that i used to use from walmart with there white styro block target....that one lasted me a year when i first got my exocet....my arrows shoot pretty darn good with what i made them from.......bob

Hope it works,(but I have my doubts) I had 5.5" thickness of closed-cell foam after about 15 BH's I put 2 arrows thru it at 30 yds. one hit a tee post another 30 yds behind target scraped arrow & BH still haven't found the other one ? Would be nice if this one works, would save $100.00 or more. Anyone tried shooting BH's into a bail of peet moss??
