BTW - I made a batch of jerky with the backstraps out of the doe I took opening day. Used your method to cut it up, then put it in the cure for 24 hours then in the smoker. Didn't want to wait 12-16 hours for the smoker to dry it, so after two loads of smoke I finished it in the dehydrator.
Used Morton Tender Quick cure, and it came out a bit salty, but it's going quickly anyway.

Scott, I shoot Zwickey Black Diamond broadheads when hunting larger deer (during rut) and I shoot Wasp Series II hunting heads this time of year. I have dozens of both.

In the early 1990's I got a super deal from a small shop that was going out of business. I have in excess of 60 Wasp Series II's and probably close to the same with the Black Diamonds. It's been many years since I've purchased any hunting heads.

This button buck was taken with a Wasp Series II and went about 10 yards before piling up. In my opinion, the shot placement and the terrain (steep uphill) had more to do with the running distance than the hunting head itself.

Thanks Bob. You are right . . .there are just shy of a million factors that determine how far a deer will run after taking the hit. Looks to me like it was all shot placement on this one. That deer could have easily turned and ran downhill if it had a chance . . .but, it was too dead to make the effort. Good shooting.

The broadhead data is neat to have when someone asks about a certain broadhead. I think everyone here will give their best estimates of the yardages. Who knows, in a couple of years some patterns may develop that might help us in picking which broadheads will best suit us.

Nice yearling and shot placement. You can never have too many of those in the freezer. Its hard to cook a yearling wrong.
