New flemish string installed

Post by havok »

I just installed my new cheekpiece and my new flemish string. The cheekpiece is very comfortable and makes a great bow look even better. The string was sitting just above the upper brace height, the one closer to the trigger. I shot about 16 shots and the string is now sitting about midway. Should I add a few more twists to shorten it so it rides near the upper mark? Will it make a difference in speed? Thanks again for all your advice for the newbie.

With the string near the upper mark your Excalibur will be quieter but will loose a few FPS compared to the lower line. The lower line is a bit faster but slightly louder. Anywhere in between is ideal, your choice.

i keep mine at the sweet spot at just under the high line closer to the trugger....that seems to be where most here keep it....closer to the riser the faster the fps but not much worth the harder firing of your bow....closer to the riser line "low brace mark" makes the power stroke longer....i'd keep it right at the high brace mark but in between the lines  .........bob

A few fps isn't a must have. I set my brace depending on my Bow model the vixen 1 1/8" above the riser/rail joint. my phoenix & those higer poundage i set at 1 1/4" above riser/rail joint

That new string will probably stretch some more,I'd give it a couple more twist, because after some more shooting you might be to close to a low brace height.....
