How long can a fellow do this?

Post by B-Logger »

I just returned from setting a new stand. The bottom of the stand is at 22.' On the way back to the house it struck me. How many guys still do this at this age and how much longer can I expect to be able to do it? My birthday is yet this month and I turn 68.

btw, because it is so darned warm this afternoon, rather than hunt I think I'll go for a nice bike ride.

I have no idea B-logger, but I hope I can still do it when I'm 68!
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. Gen 27:3-4

Thanks fellas. Now I'm off for that bike ride. I've not rode much as of late so it won't be far but probably 20 miles anyway.

It sounds like we have much in common! I'm 71 and I have 16 hang on stands ready to go. I also like to be 20-25 ft. high whenever possible. I hunt both
PA and WV. I also ride a bike(bicycle) as much as possible. Hopefully, you
have many more years to enjoy our great sport. Remember, inside of every

If I use a stand at all--- it is a ladder stand only.Having tested the holding power
of a safety strap a few years ago---I am quite happy to be down with the rabbits.
You guys that are up there--go to it--to each his own--but I know I am destined
to end up where it is very warm--so no reason to practice climbing--to try
and get up there--[lol]. Oh yes I am in my 69th year.

When I grow up, I want to be just like those guys!

btw, I did get the bike ride in yesterday even though it was a tad windy and might repeat that today.

I'm 70 and still using a climber, it does seem to be getting heavier every year.

I was born to hunt...and ride bikes too! Ride all summer and you're in shape for bowhunting come fall. Here's a pic of me (age 56) with my restored 1950 Schwinn B-6. Gary

I hunt off a 10 foot lader stand. Since I am half as tall as (22 foot) I should last twice as long.  I will be 69 in November.
