Aha!!
I just returned from 3 weeks in Wisconsin. First thing i will say is that I never found it necessary to be more than 16 feet up. I also use the HSS and like the security I think it provides. Was able to harvest a nice mature doe and a really nice 8 point buck this past season.

Age here is 78 and my only concern is that the tracking after the shot is reasonably quick.
On my two deer this year, the doe went 40 yards, and the buck went 100 yards with a great blood trail. It's not always been that easy.

This year we used several double stands and the comfort in them after 4 hours was just great. I don't bike but I golf and work out 2 or 3 times a week.

Its never too late guys.

I moved two yesterday, alone. 70 in Nov.So you got at lest two more seasons ...assuming you don't FALL from or with your stand. Did the latter 2yrs ago, not fun.

Why hunt? Simple, it's BASIC. Why breath?!

I love to walk and ride my bike too

Sat. I was out helping my son hang treestands and of course
I was the one up the tree. It's a bit late to be putting up stands but
Sept. it a busy month for me finishing up my ball season

Being 58 I am still pretty young but at the end of the day
I am starting to feel the pain

You guys keep me going. Thanks!!

Add me to the old geezer list. I will be 68 next Wednesday. I am strictly a ladder stand hunter now. Most of the stands are buddy stands. I like the extra room to adjust when my body tells me. I usually hunt a minimum of 8hrs a day and if it is the rut longer.

That is a waaay cool bike. I only have a Trek Mtn bike, but I heartily agree, ride all summer. 53 here this past June. Somedays I feel it, but I'm huntin' till I drop. Just started pullin' the strings on a Recurve and a longbow. I figure its never too late.

I'm too young to add any sage advice (still 59 for a few more weeks), but I'm starting to realize the wisdom of using the law of gravity as an asset.

It's easy to plop down in a chair in a blind, but you have to work to get up a tree!

And remember wabi, if you fall from a tree, you do not prove the law of gravity; you confirm it.

At 58 I was just wondering how much longer I can hope to do this thing! Great thread very encouraging. I took up bow hunting at 52 so I was hoping to enjoy the sport a little longer. :D
