Thats gonna leave a mark **Semi-Graphic pics**

I hit my thumb. yep. ow.

I had a deer come in at 35 yards tonight. I dont know what came over me but I forgot about making sure my thunb was clear. The last time I did this I was wearing gloves and it hurt, hurt real bad, this time I had no gloves on and it hurt REALLY bad. The part that stings the most is that my arrow didnt hit the boiler room. Judging by the way the deer was hunched over I assume its gut shot from the string deflecting off of my thumb, and thats the part that hurts the most. Gut shot deer :( I had it in my veiw for 45 mins after the shot and he was slow moving but when it got too dark to see I still didnt hear a crash. I hung around for another half an hour so my getting down from the stand didnt push it, but even then some more came around my stand and I heard them sound an alarm. Wish me luck fellas, this color blind, thumb nail missing dummy is going to need it.

Hope the thumb recovers and you find the deer.
Not sure what to think about him staying in sight that long. I would think he would bed down if he is gut shot. Could be a hit that isn't going to be fatal.
I'd look for the arrow first, it may tell you something about the hit.

Have some whiskey and get a good nights sleep and make sure you don't cut yourself gutting the deer.

Painkillers . . . .

Good luck tomorrow.

Out of whiskey at the moment, but ALOT of jamacian rum and a little bit of coke will do for now.

The right part of the nail is gone. As for the deer: I dont think its gut shot. judging by the blood ( and alot of it) and the tissue and no sign of stomach contents. I have alot of nasty stuff to walk through tomorrow to find it.

From a carpenters point of view grit your teeth and drill one or two small holes at the base of your fingernail and let the pressure off. Stick it in warm soapy water for 20 minutes let dry off and put an antibiotic saave on it with a bandage and pray. No, really good solutions for this one. Sorry. Oh, I definitely would'nt stick it in a deer inerts.

Ouch! How the heck did you sit still and watch a deer after that? I would have been screaming like a little girl!

Hey I know the thumb feeling,a few years back I was docking a 14 ft aluminum boat and put my hand on the dock at the same time the wake from the boat lifted it up and then down on the my thumb thus tearing the nail CLEAN OFF !!
My first day of a week fishing trip needless to say we had to make an extra run to the LCBO!!

Keep us posted on your deer.
