Plastic tubing on stringer

Post by mchurch »

The plastic tubing on my excal stringer is really chewed up. Can I just remove it or does it have to be there. I shoot an Equinox and use the rope cocker on the stringer. I don't use my hands.

I haven't taken mine off yet but I slide it to the side and don't use it. I'm afraid of it accidentally getting drawn up on the top side of the arrow keeper.

I took the plastic off and "served it" with a layer of string . . .it works great. I have used the crap out of it and it still looks good. I can't say that about the piece of plastic, it died early on . . .this is the picture I took just after I served the cocking aide.

i took mine off as well....the stringing aid only needs to be pulled back only a few inches to relax the limbs enough to change strings....when i have mine on when checking my string/waxing it the string is only back from the brace marks bout 3", just enough to remove the string....that way there is hardly any poundage on it then, if it wasn't for the angle and finger pinch i can do and undo it by hand  ........bob

I took mine off for the reason that it slipped over my arrow reatainer on the equinox and i dint notice and pulled up on it and bent the crap out of it and then it was a pain to get it back to where it should have been.

I made my own stringer and the plastic tubing is holding up well I can get more if you need some.
I was going to also suggest serving it like summner did which I will try next week

I used to slide mine aside and use the cocking aid to pull it in place. I had Don make me one that is served like sumners and works perfectly!
