In Flanders Fields
by John McCrae, May 1915

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
Exocet 175
Munch Mount

Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

My Nephew invited me to his school today for a program they were having for Veterans Day and we had to sit in a different area to be reconized as vets while we heard speaches and giving thanks for our service and all i could think about was the ones that lost their lives and the young men out there today so when i give thanks its to all the men and woman, their families and to the families that has lost some one dear to them while serving in the military no matter what branch of service.
I thank you every day, 365 days a year not just today

Being a veteran I did what I usually do on this day - work.

Listening to a radio talk show while I was driving and the host was talking about a trip he took to France. He mentioned how many of our (US) troops in WWII were buried over there after they gave their lives, and the sad fact they were willing to go so far to fight a war to protect our freedom and literally never made it home.

I wish and hope everyone will think of those who didn't make it home and say a prayer for them and their families.

I did take some time this evening to get out and relax a bit. Too hot to hunt, so I took the fly rod and made the best of the good life I live today because of the sacrifices of so many over the long history of our great nation. My personal sacrifice was small, a few years serving in the US Navy, but all those small sacrifices add up to provide freedom for all.

The sun sets on a day set aside for remembering and giving thanks - the perfect time and place for a small prayer for all those who didn't make it home -
