Game Warden Shot

Post by Shotnbeer »

This probably belongs in the OT section. The last incident where an officer was shot took place 95 years ago.

Pa. game warden investigating poaching is killed.

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (AP) — A felon caught poaching deer and a state game warden who had him partly handcuffed engaged in a "ferocious exchange of gunfire" that killed the officer and wounded the suspect, who was arrested 11 hours later, authorities said.
David L. Grove, a 31-year-old wildlife conservation officer from Fairfield, was fatally shot Thursday night in a rural area near Eisenhower National Historic Site outside Gettysburg, police said. The suspect, Christopher Lynn Johnson, 27, told police he fled with the handcuffs locked on his left wrist and shot them off himself, according to a police affidavit. He was arrested at a hunting camp Friday morning.

How sad for everyone involved. My thoughts and prayers go out to both families.
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. Gen 27:3-4

Oh my. I live in Pa. and hadnt even heard. Lets hope he gets what coming to him and Prayers to the Family.

The 95 years, does that pertain to Pa.?
I seem to remember 2 Wardens killed in Idaho or Utah in the 80's I think. Over poaching I believe.

sad to see in the line of duty... everyone gives them a hard time for doing their jobs and you wonder why they have guns drawn or a hand on their service weapon when questioning you.

Very very sad story indeed!! :(

deleted . . .I misread the story . . .it's current.

That is sad and I hope they lynch the guy.
