checkout this cow

Post by ch312 »

the weather was steady this week so i figured the deer would be on the same schedule unless something spooked them. i see the first small doe around the exact same time as my first hunt where my string broke. i was in the same tree and the deer walked the exact same path so i was ready when she stepped into my shooting lane. 11-12 yard shot and i watched her run 60-70 yards before tipping over. the black crimson talon made a nice blood trail considering my shot was a bit high. but, double lungs works for me

this was by far the biggest doe in that bush and the largest i have shot. VERY smart girl that remembered our first encounter and was super cautious and watched me the whole time. if i didnt have my bow in that position before they got within 60 yards there was no way id be able to move. she was watching me like a hawk and stomping the whole time. but, descenting properly and not moving at all put the odds in my favor.

use the shop vac and table saw for scale. the rafters are probably 7-8ft from the floor. any guesses on weight?

yes, she is tagged in her right ear.

Now that is one hog of a Doe. Good for you for taking the old smart one out of the herd. It always feels good to get those too-smart-for-their-own-good Does!!
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. Gen 27:3-4

She looks like she might be close to 200lbs. She's a trophy doe if ever there was one. Congrats!!!

thanks everyone :D

i'm a meat hunter so i'm very happy with this big girl. some of the fat was over 1 1/2" thick so she sure was feeding good.

i didnt realize how big she actually was until i walked up on her and saw how deep her chest is. then it really set in when i started dragging her to the atv trail...made it 20ft and said screw it. i plan on buying a scale before we cut her up just to see how much she actually weighs dressed.

i just wish i had better pics of her as she was a very healthy animal with not a single flaw.

Congrats.
Did you shoot her with the damaged limb on your bow or did you get it changed?

That is a nice doe. Way to go. I'll guess the dressed weight at 135 lbs.
