Trail Cam - Confirms he made it through the Controlled Hunt

Post by Sandman »

Hello everyone,

I made it out for the first time since the Controlled Hunt to one of the new properties that I am hunting and I pulled the card in my Moultrie Trail cam.

I set up a feeder and my camera inside the bush and about 300 yards from my climber tree. I noticed that the feeder was empty and thought that there must be a pile of hungry deer in the area as the feeder was empty ... Wrong on my part.

Image

I guess my feeder should have a "closed" sign on it when its empty ..

Image

As I scrolled through the 400 some pictures of a number of deer and raccoons I was very pleased to see that the fella I have been looking for everytime I have been out was still alive and well ..

Is it me or is his neck all beat up and bloody? I really cant tell as the picture quality is not the best from my Trail Cam ..

I'll be looking for him tomorrow evening ..

Cheers,

those would be scars from a bigger buck;)

my guess is he's a 2.5 year old and ran into a 3.5-5 year old granddaddy

if you dont get him this year, he will be one heck of a buck next year. Great mass right now

Thats a nice buck , hope ya tag him. He defently looks brused up. My record buck last year 285lbs did not have a mark on him, but when the butcher was taking him apart he was bleeding on the inside in his neck area.
If i'm not hunting i'm fishing, and if i'm not fishing i'm wishing.

Not only did he make it through the shotgun, but he is out eating during legal light, go get him!

I second that...go get 'em!! :)

This fella is beat up more than I realized .. His forehead is a little bloody too (look at pic #4). Also after looking at the pics he has a neat little spur/kicker just above his right eye (pic #6).

I agree with everyone - I would love to see the lad who kicked his a$$.

It's a new property and I am just trying to learn the lay of the land with the deer (I didnt recieve permission until the end of September). I hunted it last night and just after legal shooting time a big bodied deer came out approx 40 yards from me as I was at the bottom of the tree putting my bow in the case. The wind favoured me so I snorted a couple of times and he trotted off towards the corn field.

As I left the back 200 acres I spotted a number of deer in the front fields .. Im sure Ill figure it out around Decmeber 31st.

Somebody on here said it takes 3 to 4 years to figure out a new property and I'd agree. Oh well, it's time well "wasted"!

Good Luck
