Quiver mount I made for my Phoenix

Post by warydragon »

I thought I would share the cross mounted quiver mount I fabricated for my Phoenix crossbow. I credit Groundpounder for the inspiration.

I used my Ornamental Rose Engine to decorate and take some weight off the aluminum quiver risers. I still plan to lighten and round the ends of the horizontal piece. I'm pretty sure I will have to increase the height of the risers if I decide on a scope.

So far, I like this configuration for carrying the crossbow. It allows an underarm carry that the original quiver mount does not. It does obstruct the view above the sight picture. I'm not sure this is even a problem.

I normally hang my quiver on the tree while hunting.

Good luck,

Fred

You built a nice quiver bracket, also put a couple twists into yer string so the strand don't take shock so hard. :)

With a full quiver of Excalibur carbon arrows with 150 grain broad heads, the bow is very balanced left to right.

It would be easy to mount a small camera on this mount instead of the quiver.

Thanks for the input on the lack of bowstring twist. It only has one full twist on each side. It has just now stretched to a little in front of the back mark. I'm still hunting with it now and don't want to mess with it. I'll twist it a few times as soon as I have time to shoot at targets again.

Thanks,

Fred

Great job Fred.
I like to see different stuff people make for their bow to personalize it.

I will not be surprised if you get some PM's requesting you make some for sale.

It only has one full twist on each side.
When twisting a string, it's not necessary to twist it from both ends. It can be twisted from either the left or right side. Just make sure you twist it in the correct direction. With a endless loop string like yours it's a moot point. However, with a flemish twist string twisting it counter clockwise when looking at it from either end (i.e. parallel to the limbs) will shorten the string (i.e. increase brace height), and clockwise will do the opposite.
