My new (used) Exomax brace height & POI question

Post by Skoal Brother »

I am the new proud owner of an early Exomax. When I purchased the bow it did not look like it had much use in its previous lfe. The string is stock and is set a the low brace height (near the front or business end of the bow) The string had never been twisted. I waxed and removed the string put a couple of twists in it and proceeded to sight my scope. After about 10 shots I was hitting the center ring at 50 yards. After sighting in the scope I checked the brace height again and it appeares to have dropped back to the very front line on the bow.

My questions are -

Do I care if it is at the front line?
If I remove the string, twist and reinstall have I changed my POI (if so how do you change a string in the field and continue hunting)
How often should I remove the string and tighten (change the brace height)

Thanks

Thanks in advance

I have my B/H set at 1" which I think is
pretty standard

Were ever I have my B/H set I place a mark on the side of
my rail right under the string. I used a white ink pen to mark it.

So if my string moves just twist it back to the mark.

This is just the way I do it, but it gives you something to go by.

Your POI will not change after a few twists to maintain a consistant B/H.
Ideal B/H is 5/8" to 1 1/3" back from the riser. Many keep a 1" or so B/H fback from the riser.
Adjust B/H as needed.

B-height is where you like the string to be, the newer models have 2 lines high n low. Older models have none, the sweet spot is about 1 1'8" up from Riser joint line. Just don't let yer string get too low or it will slap the Riser & ruin serving n string. Low b-height will give you about 4 fps more than high b-height, which isn't a big thing unless you must have every last fps from yer Bow. Don't have to take but one end of string loose to twist yer string up, usually moves 1/8" per full twist. POI will slowly go higher the more the string creeps. I twist my up a full twist when it creeps 1/8", in the field have an extra string broken in & tie loops with a bread tie so its as you took it off Bow. Usually Bow won't creep a full twist while in the field one day, ck it everyday.
