Ontario Buck

Post by Adam »

After preparing for this week of hunting since last year (purchasing a muzzle loader, researching loads) I was unfortunate enough to work out of town for 5 days during my controlled hunt week. I managed to get out for a few hours and harvested a real nice buck. Shot with 100 grain Triple 7, 300 grain Barnes Expander, and a Remington Genesis .50 cal.

I busted him while walking through a very small orchard roughly 1 acre in size. He jumped up and stopped just long enough for a shot. My bullet flew through quite a bit of rhubarb but found its mark. Double lung and heart hit at about 15 yards. I managed to recover the bullet which was just dimpling the skin on the exit side.

Edit- Hunter orange was worn, i took it off for the photo and gutting.

Thanks for all the kind words. This guy will be hard to top but I saw an equal sized buck about 1 km from where I harvested this one. He will have to wait till next years bow season.
