opening day GUN dead Doe down

Post by Hoss »

Me and my wife got our stuff together the night before. The next morn after coffee we were out after them. I dropped her off at the ladder stand and walked her to it. I got her sat up and I went on to another spot. I passed a camper down the road so I stopped and talked to him. He was getting ready to go and I did not want to mess him up so I learned were he was to go and I LIKED IT. up wind from me so I was hoping he would push one to me. well he did. I heard a BLOW just as the sun came up and it kept on getting closer. I was in a bottle neck of sorts where the deer like to travel. I waited and there her head came. I wonder if there is a buck behind her i thought. I couldnt let her pass. It was now or never on her. If I let her pass to see if a buck is behind her she will wind me and its all over. SO. once in the clear about 70yds I neck shot her and she fell in her tracks. I waited to see if there might be a buck on her tail and there was none. So good decision. My wife said she saw a flag at day break and then a hunter came from the same area. I was hoping that someone would push a deer to her but seems the deer took a right turn just in time.. Thats public land for you. once gun season is over out there the deer will be all but ghost until next october..

Good shootin' Hoss!

That's the way with Public Land isn't it?? You not only have to figure out what the Deer are going to do, but the Hunters as well!! :D
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. Gen 27:3-4

Wabi---->223 Hornady V-Max 62 grain bullet w/27 Grns of varget with winchester brass and primers.
neck shot drops em hard. Next year I will be loading Barnes 62 grain stx bullets, all copper and a very awsome load for deer out of a 223. It will punch a hole unlike the hornady V-max.
